Guelma lies at the heart of a major agricultural region at 290 m above sea level surrounded by mountains (Maouna, Dbegh, Houara) which gives the city name plate, the region enjoys very fertile thanks to the Seybouse and a large dam that provides a vast irrigation scheme.
