Cuba Guantanamo Camp

Photos of the U.S. base at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.

The camp is located on the Guantánamo naval base at Guantanamo Bay in southeast Cuba. In the military detention center high-security inmates are qualified as "combatants off-the-law", captured by U.S. forces in various operations conducted abroad (Afghanistan, Iraq, etc.. ) against militants and "terrorists" Islamists. The choice of this center in Cuba on a U.S. military base was justified by President George W. Bush to establish legally the decision to refuse to subject detainees to U.S. federal court system, building on the extra-territoriality of the base.

There was, in fall 2001, approximately 750 detainees from about twenty different countries. From 2001 to 2004, more than 200 prisoners were released, many were found in their home country as the six prisoners of French nationality or receive amnesty as hundreds of Afghans. In April 2006, 558 people were imprisoned at Guantanamo, a number that had dropped to 275 in May 2008 and 192 in January 2010, a year after the deadline set by a presidential decree of President Barack Obama ordering the closure. In total, 779 people passed through this institution between 2002 and December 2008, five of whom committed suicide.

In June 2006 the Supreme Court declared illegal the proceedings of emergency in place at Guantanamo. An advocacy group Human Rights based in London estimated that 60 detainees [When ?] Are minor.
Entrance to the camp five Guantanamo

A study by the U.S. military says at least 30 former Guantanamo detainees have been killed or captured during fighting in Afghanistan in Pakistan or Iraq, and that 95% of them constituted a threat to "American interests" because of their affiliation with the Islamist movement.

This place of detention outside any legal framework draws criticism from the international public opinion, governments and associations defending human rights. Many testimonies and documents reflect degrading detention conditions and the use of torture techniques on prisoners.

On November 16, 2008, Barack Obama, then president-elect, confirmed its intention to close the camp. But this closure raises particular legal problems as the fact that a confession had been obtained "under duress", thus creating a procedural flaw, which could lead the court to release American prisoners, including at least one, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has been held responsible for the attacks of September 11, 2001. On 22 January 2009, Obama signed a presidential decree ordering the closure of the camp within a year. The high security prison in the small town of Thomson, Illinois, built in 2001, but the 2800 cells are not all met, will be purchased by the federal government. Many difficulties, both political and administrative and legal barriers to achieving the closure of Guantanamo prisoners who still has 176 in August 2010. [In Wikipedia ]

After 132 years of French rule, Algeria gained its independence July 5, 1962.

From 1962, the Algerian government has adopted a highly centralized planned economy, the first objectives were to give Algeria independence in the economic recovery by including wealth national. A series of nationalizations is conducted as such, particularly involving foreign companies. Subsequently a considerable effort of industrialization is deployed. But this policy was immediately challenged by the new situation introduced by the oil shock of 1986, the state could no longer endure during this period the financial investment it consented to the benefit of national companies and was not able to respond positively to the new wave of applications that have greatly increased with increasing population, the country has known since independence. The Algeria uses from 1988 to IMF structural adjustment to achieve a comprehensive reform program is committed to ensure a transition from a socialist economy to a market economy.

Today Algeria has a very favorable economic situation both internally and externally, in particular following the very strong increase in oil prices, the country's economic growth has followed a progression constant and stable from 2.1% in 2001 to 5.3% in 2005, with a peak of 6.8% in 2003, the multi-year projections associated with the law Finance 2005 predict an average growth of 5.3% per annum for the period 2005-2009. Despite the presence of excess liquidity due to the abundance of oil, inflation is under control thanks to the strict control exercised by the Bank of Algeria, the rate of inflation at the end of 2005 was 1.5% against 3, 6% for 2004. Externally, Algeria is the third largest economy in Africa with a GDP of USD 171.3 billion, behind South Africa with USD 300.4 billion and Nigeria with 220.3 billion USD, the amount GDP per capita is estimated in 2008 to 5.073 USD.

Photos of the town of Ghardaia in Algeria.

Ghardaia derives its name from the word Amazigh Tagherdayt (Tarerdayt). Today Mzab capital. Its supposed date of its foundation is 1228. It is a city (Aγerm) ksourien type, its traditional architecture has greatly inspired the work of Le Corbusier.

the name "Ghardaia", as did those in the region Mzab Amazigh (Tajnint El Atteuf "At Mlichet" Melika "At Izğen" Beni Isguen "At Bunur" Bounoura "Bergan" Berriane "and Iger'r'ar'en" Guerrara ") is in effect, since the French colonial period, the deformation of the shape Amazigh authentic" Taγerdayt "that we must not be confused with taγerdat / taγerdayt, female "aγerda = mouse." These similarities do exist in the Amazigh language in all its variants.

The name "Taγerdayt" that is the metropolis of the region Mzab, for reasons he would be long to mention here, of course, has a form and meaning in connection with the language of the settlement continuously occupied since time immemorial. Moreover, it would be senseless and inconceivable that some form Gazetteer (Ghardaia) be formalized, so that this toponym has always been pronounced "Taγerdayt" by all Amazigh people of that region, saying only: ad z'wiγ γel Tγerdayt (I make me a Taγerdayt) usiγ Tγerdayt-ds (I came from Taγerdayt), etc. ...

A strong assumption reached by H. Dabouz, Taγerdayt place name meaning " bowl / depression "is as follows: •" ta --- t "(feminine singular indices in Tamazight) • gher (under iger / ager mean field) • adday (bottom, bottom, below).

What goes in harmony with the topography and the meaning of "bowl / depression." Moreover, in Tamazight Adrar NFuse, Libya, Taγerdayt the word is well attested. It gives the meaning of "land located along the river." [In Wikipedia ]

Relizane

Relizane (Arabic: غليزان) of berbere Ighil Izane is a city of Relizane province in Algeria. Its population is 111 186 inhabitants.

Anglicized form of Relizane Ighil Izane derivative of Tamazight "Ighil" which means arm and "Izza" which means grilled. Ighil Izane is the "Col toasted by the sun." used by the Berber Tuareg "blue men". It is a place called the time of the Turks who founded a bordj, hence the name of Bordj Ighil Izane to control the road from Oran and simultaneously contain the Arab tribes of the Beni Rached, and Tribes of berberarabes Flitter. It was not until the French occupation in the city to emerge.

The history of the region dates back to the kingdoms of Numidia which lies between 203 and 213 BC The region takes its name from a river called Mina. Region Mina knows under Roman rule, which lasted almost five centuries, culminating in the agricultural and commercial development because of its fertile land and rich soil. History:

In the nineteenth century, agriculture is often threatened by frequent droughts. This is in 1852 that French troops occupy Relizane.

In 1844, the French genius repairing the old dam (the old waterworks partly restored in the eighteenth century). In 1853, the first Europeans settled in the plains and cultivate small areas of wheat and barley plus some tobacco surfaces quickly abandoned (the disease kills at the time of whole populations). But the creation of Relizane is decided in January 1857. Since then, some homes built after the railroad from Algiers to Oran give a new face. Meanwhile the European population increases. The French come from the Midi (Gard) and Spain's Valencia, Alicante, Murcia, Almeria. Twenty farms were growing cotton. The city then experienced an extraordinary development, but disease, drought, crop failures hampering progress. Add to the natural disaster, the events that preceded the imperial journey and whose legacy gave the main reason for the incident in May 1865. In southern rebellion broke Oran Ouled Sidi Cheikh, due to dissatisfaction revolt since 1860. Disappointments and broken promises by the occupier and the arrogance of increasingly sharp Europeans, civilians and military, are behind one of the largest insurgency that would last until 1896. Do You Wax Before Or After A Shower

Daorong - Panglao - Bohol - Philippines

Today we shod our flippers to dive site Daorong Point located 5 minutes from Alona Beach .

Right now the low season can be felt, there are few divers in the area so I do not lose an opportunity to put his nose under the water as soon as I can!

It was a dive in mid-afternoon, almost at the peak of high tide!

the Philippines as elsewhere, it is often best to dive at high tide because there is often less power and an influx of fresh water provides better visibility.

The conditions were ideal, water at 30 ° C, a visibility of about 25 to 30 meters and a very small current, just enough to be flémard and not have flippers! Everything we love:) We stayed

65 minutes with a maximum depth of 23 meters! The highlight of this dive was the bench catfish! A ball 2 meters in diameter! This struck us as it is very unusual to see a bench outside the reef. These fish usually stay in small groups and mostly in the interstices or under rocks or coral!

PS: do not touch the catfish because they have a poisonous stinger and several bites can be fatal!

Until what age can you dive?

This week we dived with Yoshiko! This diver Japan 75 years has an incredible energy! She regales

underwater and more than 100 dives to his owner! It was a real pleasure to guide!

It was a year she did not strap on your fins. She explained that in Japan a tradition that when a parent dies, it is not allowed to have activities entertainment during a period of 1 year!

After a first dive refresh it allowed to stretch a little, we took our foot to dive together!

Crossing the schools of small barracuda to Crystal Coast, I could see the eyes of a teenager through his mask!

amusing anecdote:

After the dive she told us have been amazed by the banks "SASHIMI"! Long live the clash of cultures:)

3 great dives in the Philippines Balicasag Island - Bohol

Today we made three dives Balicasag with experienced divers from Mindanao, southern Philippines island!

The first in Royal Garden. A slight current made us dévriver north with the left shoulder falling! We saw 2 huge English Mackerel of about 1 meter 50 and 3 turtles leaving planner above the reef!

We went to Black Forest for the second dive. A strong current of the tide made us divert about 400 meters! Large schools of fusiliers, the Moorish idol and big groupers located a little deeper it is the happiness of our peepers:)

After 2 dives drift, we decided to do a third dive more relaxed with less power! So we went to the site of Cathedral, which is ideal for diving and slow macro!

This dive is unanimous! We saw a beautiful frogfish (toadfish) the size of a thumb and pink color (pictured above)! About 7 different kinds of nudibranchs and a carnival of sardines trying to escape the tyrannical tuna:) For the finale, a "Leaf Scorpion Fish" we waited for our safety stop (pictured right). A pure joy of diving!

Very Mucosy Bloody Period Why

Punta del Este - 1 au 3 juin et sejour in Tacuarembo

Punta del Este is located at 2am al East of Montevideo on the Atlantic coast. Punta del Este Uruguay is what al Viña del Mar (north of Santiago) in Chile is and Mar del Palta (south of Buenos Aires) Argentina al: The appointment of the Jet Set, especially in summer. Off season as at present, c is a peaceful city, a central shopping street and large buildings and other hand along the beach. Cote lighthouse on the peninsula, beautiful homes. On the port, many fishermen preparing their departure to sea for the night putting the bait at the end of their lines. Even more amazing, about 5 sea lions live in the harbor and we saw 3 huge sunbathing on the docks. The symbol of the city that we see on every postcard, c is a sculpture on the beach representing the five fingers of a hand raised as if to touch the sky. C is not particularly nice to elsewhere. C is in Punta del Este that the Rio de la Plata is the Atlantic Ocean to the other side of the bay.
We went to visit in 20 minutes by bus to another lovely spot: Punta Ballena. There, we met Annette, wife of the painter and artist Carlos Paez Vilaro, also owns the big hotel Casapueblo para strange architecture overlooking the sea Very attractive, Annette gave us an invitation to visit the exhibition of paintings of her husband and a snack in the complex. The sea view was breathtaking, a beautiful moment ...

Here, c is here in Punta del Este we finish our tour of Uruguay and our 2nd round of the World, 2009-2010 after 10 1 / 2 months of travel. From the Himalayas, we have made a sacred journey, devours miles of trekking and hundreds of meters of vertical, experienced moments so strong that words are sometimes hard to find for the recount, crosses so many wonderful people. But our round the world will never really finished. It will continue in our memories and through our memories and anecdotes and will continue in our journeys to come ...

H&o Wedding And Event Consulting

stay - 25 au 29 mai

A 5h30 drive from Melo, Tacuarembo is located in north-central of Uruguay. C is the home of the Gaucho and its traditions, its culture strong and pervasive throughout the country, to the rurality of Uruguay. Apart from the Gaucho Museum and the nearby village of Carlos Gardel, the city of Tacuarembo has nothing special in itself. We went for an experiment, to experience the gaucho traditions at the heart of their reality in a real estancia (a ranch is a ranch: it is the word used in Uruguay and Argentina, c is a hacienda in Chile).
The Uruguay has a hundred estancias welcoming travelers. Most of them are rather expensive tourist ranches and quite luxurious offering rural tourism activities fee. Us, we wanted to share an experience of life and the lives of gauchos: we spent 4 days special Panageas located in Estancia was 1h30 Tacuarembo direction from Juan Manuel Salto and Suzanna. The estancia Panageas Account 1000 hectares and not less than 1600 sheep, 900 cows, 88 horses, 44 pigs and chickens ... The ranch belonged to the grandfather of Juan Manuel and is located in the countryside, amid immense green areas, with small hills, water courses, granite stones. We first learned of the saddle horses and gauchos saddles are different, more comfortable, covered with a sheepskin. The jaw is also different, longer in the horse's mouth. The reins are held with one hand, another difference. Our daily routine was to ride morning and afternoon to pick up the cattle, sheep or cows, the collection, take in the corral for the immunization, treatment against parasites or select from the animals before the sale or here. Belinga and his family live and work in the ranch of Juan Manuel. With his hat, poncho and his little mustache, has everything the perfect Belinga gaucho. The wife of Juan Manuel, Suzanna is Swiss-German origin, his kindness and generosity we have many makes and keys. Their daughter Darma 11 months and already she seems to like to stand on a horse! A real small left for future! This experience will be unforgettable in the estancia, our rides to drive the cattle through the splendid green areas we have charms. The landscape is really endearing. D so far as we also met a very nice fellow travelers: Kim, Sweden; Stephanie and Luke of Australia. In Estancia Panag, no electricity generator allows fair to have light from 18h to 22h. The rest of the time we use the candle or the lovely fireplace for cozy evenings. Be
Gaucho is primarily a way of life in Uruguay: c is free riding in endless expanses c is an extraordinary ability to understand and tame the beasts. As the read: pain and expresses the gaucho s s blurring in the vast expanses that are his; in town, the pain fades into the gaucho tango, sounds nostalgic . Tango gaucho traditions and rural life are closely intertwined in Uruguay ... If
Uruguay has only 3.5 million inhabitants, has 10 million head of sheep and 11 million cows. 86% of the country's land is dedicated al agricultural, or its extreme rurality and ranching; the Uruguay is the fifth largest producer of wool.
