Adrar, whose name means "mountain" in Berber, Saharan Africa is a town of Algeria , capital of the wilaya of the same name in the region Gourara.

The wilaya of Adrar is located in southern Algeria, bordered to the north by the wilaya of El Bayedh and Ghardaia, in the west by the wilaya of Bechar, and Tindouf, in the east by the wilaya of Tamanrasset, and south by Mauritania and Mali. The wilaya is composed of 11 Dairies, 28 communes and 299 Ksars (villages), covers an area of about 427,368 square kilometers and includes 326 429 inhabitants (est. 2003). Adrar is a mainly agricultural area, characterized by its traditional irrigation system "foggara.

Adrar (Algeria): Actually, locally pronounced Adghagh (= rock in Berber) is the French transcript that made Adrar. It's probably a particular language processing called semantic confusion-formal (specific to the Berber-speaking southern region), rather than a particular phonetic processing (r / gh).
