Casa Batllo is quite spectacular. Located on the Passeig de Gracia, it is one of three modernist building block of buildings known as the "Mancan of Discoria.
The two other buildings in the block are, Casa Lleo Morera (by Luis Domenech i Montaner) and Casa Amatller (by Josep Puig i Cadafalch). This is the best collection of modernist buildings gathered in one place you will have the opportunity to see. Casa Batllo
was built in 1877, but the architect Gaudi and his colleagues, Josep Maria Jujol, spent three years between 1905 and 1907 to redesign building, whose results can be seen today. Casa Batllo
is equally spectacular as other modernist buildings, his nickname is "the house of bones", indeed the window frames and balconies resemble a skeleton.
The building also changes in appearance throughout the day, depending on the shadows formed by the details of its façade, and at night when the whole building appears embedded in a metal skin. The building is not only complex in its structure, but also in the details of his terra cotta tiles, which colors of green, blue, orange and brown.
Whatever time of day, the Casa Batllo is eye-catching and totally unique. Straight lines are totally absent from its conception. The building is a symmetrical parabolic shapes and undulations.
This is a building you should not miss in Barcelona.
